IT-Enterprise: preparing a business for ERP implementation
Preparing for ERP: process owners, production data, module boundaries, a pilot and end-to-end order validation.
Preparing a store for Torgsoft: products, barcodes, opening stock, checkout equipment, returns and inventory reconciliation.
Checkout shows only part of a store’s records. Behind every sale are a receipt, price, stock figure and possibly a return. Torgsoft connects these operations in a retail management system. To make it useful, prepare products and workstations rather than merely installing software for the cashier.
Define naming, item codes, barcodes and units. Size or colour variants must be distinguishable without guesswork. Check duplicate barcodes before launch, while corrections do not affect sales history.
Take opening stock from an agreed source and reconcile it with physical inventory. If an old spreadsheet disagrees with the shelf, importing simply moves the problem. Record the owner’s decision for every difference rather than quietly adjusting figures to match.
Scope depends on checkouts, stores and required options. Match the selected Torgsoft edition with the computer, scanner, label printer and payment equipment. Verify support for exact models against documentation rather than assuming matching connectors imply compatibility.
Test scanning, search, quantity changes and printing. Separately test the cashier’s own account. Set discount, return and price-editing permissions deliberately; a shared administrator password is not a practical long-term arrangement.
A hypothetical workflow: receive a delivery, move part of it to a sales outlet, sell an item and return it. At each step, verify the document and stock at the correct location. Cancelling a sale and returning an item after completion may require different actions.
If an online store is connected, agree reservation rules and availability update frequency. An in-store sale must not leave an online customer promised the final unit without verification. Staff need a clear procedure for late notifications.
Train cashiers on routine actions and stock owners on receiving and stocktaking. Explain who corrects errors and where their effects appear. Documents must be understandable to the next shift as well as their creator.
Test backup and restoration. Use the first stocktake to identify discrepancy causes such as wrong units, duplicate records or missing documents. This makes the system a stock management tool as well as a receipt printer.
